1. The tone of the conversation (netiquette)
We are here to learn together and exchange views on photography and darktable. We expect a respectful, friendly tone.

  • Insults, discrimination, hate speech or trolling are not tolerated.
  • Constructive criticism of images is desirable, there are no personal attacks.
  • Spam and pure advertising posts are prohibited.

2. Copyright & Licenses

We distinguish between the content of the website (tutorials) and the content of the users (forum):

A) Content of darktable.info (Tutorials, Blog)
We believe in Open Source. Therefore, all text and original photography created by us on this website are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

  • You are free to copy, distribute, and improve our guides.
  • Condition: You must credit darktable.info as the author and release your version under the same license.
  • Screenshots of the Darktable software are subject to the GPLv3.

B) Your Content (Forum & Comments)
For images and posts you upload as a user, the following applies:

  • Your Property: You retain full copyright ownership of your images. They are not subject to the website’s CC license unless you explicitly state otherwise.
  • Right of Use: By uploading, you grant us only the non-exclusive right to display this content permanently within the context of the forum.
  • Original Work Only: Only upload images you have taken yourself. Posting third-party copyrighted material is prohibited.

3. Data protection (short version)
We take your privacy seriously. We only collect data that is technically necessary for the operation of the forum:

  • Stored data: Username, email address, IP address when registering and creating posts.
  • Cookies: The software uses cookies to save your login status and settings.
  • No transfer: We do not sell your data and do not pass it on to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so.
  • Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account at any time.

4. Disclaimer
The content in the forum is created by users. We assume no responsibility for the accuracy of the contributions or for external links. The instructions and tips are used at your own risk (always make backups!).

5. Domestic Rights
Administrators and moderators have the right to delete or postpone posts and temporarily or permanently block users in the event of violations of these rules.
